What We Do and How We Do It
Our more than 1 million patients speak more than 200 languages and dialects. Our language services are a model of compassionate, culturally responsive health care that puts patients first. NYC Health + Hospitals language services include:
- Telephone services: Phone interpreters explain complex medical information between a health care provider and the patient, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Health care interpreters: Selected NYC Health + Hospitals bilingual and multilingual staff help patients understand the health care services they receive.
- Essential documents and patient education materials: NYC Health + Hospitals offers consent forms, policies, health education materials and many other written communications in English and 13 other languages widely spoken in New York City.
- Multilingual signage: NYC Health + Hospitals offer location signage appropriate to the patient population.
